Facebook’s design in 2006 was simple and followed the Web 2.0 aesthetic, using a soft blue-and-white color scheme with very few visual decorations. It focused on being clear and easy to use.
Unlike the bright and chaotic style of Y2K websites, Facebook was more restrained and avoided too many flashy visuals, prioritizing functionality first.
The content was organized in a neat grid, with clear sections for profiles, friends, and updates.
In contrast, Y2K websites like the Microsoft Games site often had messy or uneven layouts, with overlapping elements.

Welcome to the Frutiger Aero Website!

This page is inspired by the Frutiger Aero aesthetic, blending smooth visuals, functional design, and a touch of nostalgia from the 2000s.

About the Aesthetic

Frutiger Aero is a design style that emerged in the mid-2000s, known for its glossy surfaces, skeuomorphic textures, flowing lines, and vibrant yet balanced color palettes. Frutiger Aero includes glass effects, skeuomorphism, auroras, bright color palettes, smooth curved lines, and elements of nature. Frutiger Aero designs are also not very crowded with many different elements, instead having a more "open" and minimal composition as opposed to some interpetations of the style. It began from 2005-06 and was popularized by Windows Vista. Arround 2011-13, it eventually gave way to flat design trends, which favored a simpler, less decorative approach. However, Frutiger Aero remains a beloved aesthetic for its unique mix of natural inspiration and polished, futuristic appeal.
